About the Atlanta Cello Project

The Atlanta Cello Project is an opportunity for cello players to meet like-minded people, play cello ensemble music, learn more about technical playing, musicality, and ensemble playing, and perform in community venues. The participants include adult players in the metro-Atlanta area, who range in ability from beginner (can read music) to advanced, who are willing to help each other learn.

Playing Opportunity
We meet on a monthly basis, hosted by Mueo Arts at the Church of the Redeemer, Atlanta, Georgia, usually on Sunday afternoons for master classes, workshops, and play-ins.

We schedule a couple of concerts each year. We expect that members who choose to participate will rehearse with their smaller ensembles in addition to meeting with the monthly group.

Other Benefits

We manage our group at www.meetup.com/atlanta-cello-project, a private website for members. Ar our meetup page, you will have access to:

  1. -the calendar with our events as well as Atlanta-area concerts and other performances of special interest to cellists;

  2. -the discussion board with members’ comments on area cello teachers and sources for instruments;

  3. -announcements about paid and non-paid gigs; and

  4. -the Music Folder with licensed cello ensemble music.

Member's Commitment
We hope you come every month, but welcome you even if you can only come sporadically. If you want to play in a concert or other performance, you may be asked to rehearse with your ensemble separately. We will usually charge a $10 for a play-in session (to cover our costs of music, refreshments, and administration). We may charge an additional fee to cover special coaches or teachers.
